Notes[]

  • The last three numbers of the WSBK call sign are derived from former owner Storer Broadcasting's ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange.
  • Prior to obtaining the UPN affiliation, WSBK was a regional superstation on the East Coast, particularly in New England. WSBK continues to be featured on the lineups of a number of Canadian cable systems as well (its coverage of the Boston Bruins is especially popular in that country), hence its inclusion in the Canadian TV category.
  • In the 1980s, WSBK-TV ran the hugely popular "hosted movie" franchise The Movie Loft, hosted by Dana Hersey, one of the first such franchises in the U.S. The franchise's policy of only running unedited films was tested on a number of occasions via its uncut showings of such films as The Deer Hunter, The Boys in the Band and 48 Hrs.
